Bicycle Instructor Course
Basic Bicycle Course
The Fontana Police Department offers a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) approved Plan 4 Basic Bicycle Course to police officers that will function in the capacity of a bike officer.

The course is three 20-mile days including:		 Police officers riding bicycles down stairs
  • High speed dismounts
  • Bicycle repair and maintenance
  • An assessment ride
  • Laws specific for officers on bicycles
  • Suspect take downs
  • Accident avoidance
  • Stair climbing
  • Off-road skills
  • Endurance riding
  • Basic riding skills
  • Cone patterns
 
Other police agencies that have attended the course include Upland Police Department and San Bernardino Police Department.
