"Happy Summer Days" are the theme this year for the City of Fontana's schedule of events that are guaranteed to bring smiles to faces and leave the pocketbooks in tact.

Start the weekend off right with a Friday night movie and a dip in the pool. Come to Heritage Pool for the Dive-In Movies through August. Family-friendly features include 101 Dalmatians, Pinocchio, Little Mermaid, Toy Story, Barnyard, or Over the Hedge. Admission is $1.50 for children and $3.00 for adults.

Be sure to bring your camera with you to each of the summer events you attend for a chance to take home more than memories. The "Snapshot of Fun Photo Contest" will run through August 27th. Pictures (submitted on a CD 300 dpi or higher) of friends or family getting fit and being active may help you to win a digital camera or gift card worth $50 or $25. Please mail or drop off the CD at the Community Services Department at 9460 Sierra Avenue. Entries will not be returned and will be used by the City of Fontana for a display show at the Art Depot beginning in August. Contest winners will be announced September 25. This is a great way to engage your children in picture taking and fitness.

Teens can burn off some excess energy and make new friends at any number of weekly excursions to popular venues being offered all summer by the Fontana Community Services Department. Trips range from an evening behind the scenes at the California Speed Way , day visits at the Santa Monica Pier , Magic Mountain , Knott's Berry Farm , Hurricane Harbor , and catching a California Angels baseball game.

Due to the popularity of the program, early registration is required at the Jack Bulik Teen Center. Fees include bus transportation to and from the location, and will vary based on the excursion. For further information, please contact the Teen Center at (909) 428-8393.

Don't miss out on these great activities that are sure to please everyone this summer. To find out more, please call (909) 428-8360 or pick up our quarterly brochure at the Community Services Department at 9460 Sierra Avenue.
