Policy on Links from City of Fontana Web Site
The
purpose of this policy is to ensure that the City of Fontana web
sites are maintained for the exclusive use of the City of Fontana
in communicating matters of general public interest.
The City of Fontana web sites comprises all documents, databases,
log files, web pages, and other information residing within any
City-owned web site domain. This includes - but is not limited to
all information included within a City of Fontana web domain using
html, asp, word, PDF, and / or database storage formats.
This policy governs the creation of implied or explicit links from
images, notices, and other communications on the City of Fontana
web sites Such links include:
- Hyperlinks
activated by clicking on an image or text, leading to a web page
that does not reside within a City of Fontana web domain (explicit);

Mention of a URL address providing users with the address of a
web page that does not reside on a City of Fontana web domain,
or (implied);

Any other explicit or implied facilitation of movement from the
City of Fontana web sites to another web page that does not reside
on a City of Fontana web domain.
No
link (explicit or implied) may be created from any City of Fontana
web site without the consent of the City of Fontana Webmaster. Such
recommendation may be in any written form, including email correspondence.
The Webmaster will not make any recommendation under this policy
that is inconsistent with existing City Ordinance and has not been
approved by the City Manager.
The
Webmaster will not recommend any link (as defined above) for posting
unless it has an attractive and professional design format, and
either:
- contains
directional information of interest to the public, such as maps,
directories of goods and services, etc.;
- provides
public notice of a specific event which is open to the public
at no cost, has received City sponsorship in the form of a Council
resolution; or

is consistent with or furthers the goals set forth for the City
of Fontana web sites.
All
links, images, notices, and other communications on the City of
Fontana web sites may be removed at the sole discretion of the Webmaster,
as the designee of the City Manager. A link, image, notice, or other
communication providing public notice of an event or other time-limited
matter will be removed from first-view pages of the web site as
soon as feasible after termination of that event or matter, but
may be kept in archival areas of the web site

Cultural organizations that benefit Fontana residents

Fontana Chamber of Commerce organizations

Special event web sites that may be of interest to Fontana residents

City of Fontana web guides that identify hotels, restaurants,
retail stores and other similar local businesses

Business License yellow page listing
-
Promotional and Affiliate links – to be considered in
conjunction with their benefit to the Fontana Community.

Non-profit, community and human services organizations that benefit
Fontana residents and further the goals of the City of Fontana

The City of Fontana's Web site may contain hypertext links to
other sites on the Internet. The City of Fontana is not responsible
for the content, quality, or accuracy of any off-site materials
referenced or linked through the City of Fontana's Web site. By
using the City of Fontana's Web site, the user acknowledges and
accepts that the City of Fontana is not responsible for any materials
stored on other Internet sites, nor it is liable for any inaccurate,
defamatory, offensive, or illegal materials found on other Internet
sites, and that the risk of injury from viewing, hearing, downloading,
or storing such materials rests entirely with the user.
