Doo Run Run to perform at Fontana’s 4th of July Spectacular
Release Date: May 28, 2008
Fontana,
California, May 19, 2008. The Mayor and City Council proudly announce tickets are on sale now for the
4th of July Spectacular headlining the hit surfer band, Papa Doo Run Run. Join one of America’s Promise
Alliance’s 100 Best Communities for Youth in an Independence Day Celebration on Friday, July 4, 2008
beginning at 5:00 pm at Fontana High School Steeler Stadium, located at 9453 Citrus Avenue. Tickets for the event
are ready for purchase for $2.00 per person or $5.00 for a family of four and are available at any Community
Services center.
Last year, over 10,000 Fontana residents celebrated Independence Day with live entertainment, roaming entertainers,
sky divers, vendors, bouncy castles and a Dunk the Mayor booth. 2008 looks to be just as good with Fontana’s
traditional firework display, plenty of entertainment, and one of California’s favorite surf bands, Papa
Doo Run Run playing the night away.
One of San Jose Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bands, the group is well known to older fans for the soundtrack to Deadman’s
Curve, the life story of Jan and Dean whom the group toured with for many years. Younger audiences will
recognize them as the “Celebrity House Band” at Disneyland from 1975 to 1990. Their single, Be True to Your
School was a statewide and national hit. The band also has two gold records, and was nominated for a Grammy.
“To have a band of this caliber performing in Fontana is just another example of why families are attracted to
our city and calling it home,” says Ken Herron, director of the Community Services Department, adding “we offer
some of the best recreational facilities within the Inland Empire and our residents are focusing more and more
on the exciting high quality cultural arts entertainment that we provide.”
