Awaits the Inland Empire in Fontana on April 19

Fontana,
California, April 1, 2008. The Mayor and City Council invite children and adults from throughout the
Inland Empire to spend the day in Fontana on Saturday, April 19 at two major events that promise to be fun for
all ages. The Kids Fitness Challenge 5k Run/Walk/Ride co-sponsored by Healthy Fontana begins at 7:45
am at the Auto Club Speedway, 9300 Cherry Avenue. Later that morning, in the downtown civic center campus, the
City of Fontana and San Bernardino County Library will host the grand opening of the regional Lewis Library and
Technology Center at 8437 Sierra Avenue. The Lewis Library Grand Opening ceremonies begin at 10:00 am with a
ribbon cutting ceremony followed by entertainment, treasure hunts, fun, and games.
As a growing community, the City of Fontana has invested heavily in youth programming and was recently named
one of the top 100 Best Communities for Young People by the America's Promise Alliance. Involvement
in programs such as the Kids Fit Challenge 5k Run/Walk/Ride and through the community effort to build
the 93,000 square foot, $65 million Lewis Library and Technology Center along with in excess of $15 million donated
by the Give Today Enrich Tomorrow grassroots campaign, the city continues to show its true commitment to invest
in the community and future generations.
