Fitness
classes available for adults and seniors

Fontana,
California, September 22, 2008. The Mayor and City Council invite
the public to register for upcoming fitness classes in Yoga, Tai
Chi, Jazzercise, Pilates, Tae Kwon Do, or Muay Thai
Kick-Boxing.
Yoga for ages 16 and older is available at the Cypress
Neighborhood Center, located at 8380 Cypress Avenue on Fridays from 9 to 9:45
am for $25 for 4 weeks. Seniors are welcome to join the class for $15 for 4
weeks. Yoga is a relaxing fitness and stretch program that aids in increasing
flexibility, strength, balance, and posture. It is an ideal low-impact class
for the aging community.
Tai Chi is also available at the Cypress Neighborhood
Center from 1 to 2:30 pm on Thursdays for adults and seniors. This gentle martial
arts exercise uses flowing movement to help keep mobility and improve the range
of motion. Space is limited for the free class.
Jazzercise offers anyone ages 12 and older an opportunity
to form friendships while become more fit and energized. The class is available
on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, Fridays from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, or Saturdays
from 8:30 to 9:30 am. New students have a one time $65 fee for 12 weeks while
returning students pay $32 for 4 weeks. A new session begins Wednesday, October
1.
Pilates for adults is available at the Heritage Neighborhood
Center, located at 7350 W. Liberty Parkway for $25 for 4 weeks from 7:15 to
8:15 pm on Fridays, beginning September 26. This strength building exercise
provides a full-body workout while developing core strength, body alignment,
flexibility, and balance. Students will focus on breathing and stretching exercises.
Tae Kwon Do for ages 4 and older is available at
Juniper Elementary School, located at 7655 Juniper Avenue on Mondays and Wednesdays,
beginning October 6 from 6 to 6:55 pm for $55 for 4 weeks. The class focuses
on techniques such as form, kicking, and one step sparring, real world self-defense
and ground defenses. Additional family members are $35. A free Saturday class
is offered at Knockout Martial Arts and Fitness for students who enroll in
this class.
Muay Thai Kick-Boxing for adults is available at
the Cypress Neighborhood Center from 7 to 8 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays beginning
October 1 for $50 for 4 weeks. Muay Thai Kick Boxing is known as a striking
art incorporating the entire body for defense as well as offense while developing
self control.
