offers Olympic-style Judo and more

Fontana,
California, May 14, 2008. The Mayor and City Council invite residents to register for the upcoming Olympic-Style
Judo at Heritage neighborhood center located at 7350 West Liberty Parkway, Karatedo at Cypress
neighborhood center at 8380 Cypress Avenue, and Tae Kwon Do at the Don Day neighborhood center at
14501 Live Oak Avenue and Juniper Elementary School located at 7655 Juniper Avenue. Class ages, starting dates,
and fees vary. Pre-registration is required. On-site registrations are not permitted.
Olympic-Style Judo, $30 for 4 weeks beginning Thursday, May 29, removes the crossover of martial art
styles commonly found in today’s class trainings. In this class students will learn to take care of their minds
and bodies while discovering the outstanding self-defense of Japanese Judo. They will also have an opportunity
to train for a variety of competition levels.
“The class is based on traditional Japanese Judo as is used in Olympic competition,” says Michael Sambrano class
instructor, adding, “The program is very structured and teaches the outstanding self-defense skills of Judo while
preparing students for competition on any level.”
Karatetdo, $50 for 4 weeks, begins Tuesday, May 27, at the Cypress Center. The class is a combination
of karate and other martial arts forms. The program is for ages 5-65.
Tae Kwon Do, $55 for 4 weeks, is offered at the Don Day neighborhood center (beginning Tuesday, April 29
and Juniper Elementary beginning Monday, May 27 for ages 4 and older. The class will teach self-defense, kicking,
and one-step sparring.
