PRESS RELEASE
Residents
will Make a Difference on October 25
Release Date: October 2, 2008
Fontana,
California, September 29, 2008. The Mayor and City Council invite all Fontana
residents to participate in the semi-annual Community Clean Up and Recycling
Day on Saturday, October 25 from 8 am to 1 pm at the West Valley Materials
Recovery Facility (MRF) located at 13373 Napa Street. Residents are required to bring
their Burrtec refuse bill to this free event. Business and Commercial wastes will not
be accepted.
Earlier this year waste oil, paints, acids, anti-freeze, auto batteries,
oil filters, and flammable liquids all contributed to the collection total of 265.92
tons of refuse, bulky items, and green waste. Residents are asked to continue to Make
a Difference on October 25th by safely disposing of Household Hazardous Waste, refuse,
electrical appliances including televisions, computer monitors, and any other e-waste,
green waste (brush), and tires (limited to 4).
The City of Fontana is committed to recycling and providing services that
are both convenient and friendly for residents. Everything has been considered at the
recycling site to include the most efficient route and stations for the drop-offs. The
City will also be accepting recyclable aluminum beverage cans for the annual Cans
for Cash event. Fontana has won the national challenge two years in a row
and plans to make every effort to do so again this year. The drive is held throughout
the month. October 25th is the perfect day to celebrate the environment as it is also
the grand opening of Fontana Park at 10 am off Summit Avenue
and Lytle Creek. Residents should plan for both events as neither is worth missing!
