Tai
Chi and self-defense skills at Heritage

Fontana,
California, September 15, 2008. The Mayor and City Council invite the public
to register for Tai Chi and several self-defense classes at the Heritage Neighborhood
Center, located at 7350 W. Liberty Parkway. Classes that are available include Tai
Chi as a Way of Regimen, Winning Edge Child Awareness Rapid Escape, Fight Like a Girl, and Girls
on Guard. Class times and prices vary.
Tai Chi as a Way of Regimen is a peaceful rhythmic exercise
that mixes movement and stillness and flexibility and firmness. The class is for ages
16 and older is Fridays and Saturdays from 8:15 to 9:45 am for $50 for 4 weeks beginning
September 26.
Winning Edge Child Awareness Rapid Escape was developed and
designed to teach children safety awareness, danger avoidance and the physical skills
necessary to protect themselves. The class offers realistic role playing and is $30 for
4 weeks on Saturdays from 10 to 11 am for children ages 6 to 12 beginning September 27.
Fight Like a Girl for ages 13 and older teaches young women
how to defend against an attacker in the most common assault scenarios. The class offers
realistic role playing and is $30 for 4 weeks on Saturdays from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm
beginning September 27.
Girls on Guard for ages 13 and older teaches young women how
to be aware of various date rape scenarios and keep themselves alert in all situations.
The class includes direction on how to flee an unwanted situation. The class is held
on Saturdays from 12:30 to 1:30 pm for $30 for 4 weeks.
