The
Fontana Open Studio in April

Fontana,
California, April 3, 2008. The Mayor and City Council invite residents to the Art Depot at 16822 Spring
Street on Fridays from noon to 5:00 pm and Saturdays from 1:00 to 6:00 pm for an introduction into the arts with
the Open Studio. The weekly event offers parents, children, seasoned art lovers, and new learners an opportunity
to learn about a particular art technique and apply it through the helpful guidance of trained staff. The Open
Studio in April will feature Wood Burning on April 11 and 12, Illuminated Text on April 18 and 19, and Splatter
Paint on April 25 and 26.
Wood Burning, (April 11-12) is a technique that takes a steady hand and keen eye. Styles vary depending
on the tools and materials used as well as the artists techniques. Participants in the Open Studio will receive
instruction in Wood Burning as well as the opportunity to practice the art with the helpful guidance of an instructor.
Illuminated Text (April 18-19) is the art of decorating books with ornate lettering, scrollwork, icons and
images. During this project, you will have the experience of learning an ancient decorative gilding technique.
Splatter Paint (April 25-26) covers the abstract expressionist movement by studying the work of Jackson
Pollock. The American painter was well known for his unique style which will be great fun for all ages.
