PRESS RELEASE
Field
trips to the Mary Vagle Nature Center
Release Date: September 10, 2008
Fontana,
California, September 15, 2008. The Mayor and City Council invite school administrators
and teachers for grades K through 12 to register for the Urban Ecology Program which
is $5 per student at the Mary Vagle Nature Center, located at 11501 Cypress Avenue. These
real life studies are a popular resource for area schools and space is limited.
Students in grades K-12 spend the day at the Mary Vagle Nature Center
where they study a variety of subjects that include soil, rocks, pond life, and other
natural habitats.
“We can accommodate up to sixty students per day,” says Rick Dean, community services
coordinator, adding “most of the classes come from schools but we do have a lot of home
school families who we will schedule with other home-school groups to create one large
class for a field trip.”
Topics include Our Hidden Backyards, From the Ground Up, Eco-Art, The Wonder
of Rock, Pond Ecology, and Burning Questions.
Field trips introduce natural wonders while addressing statewide testing requirements.
