Election Sequence

The Fontana City Council adopted Ordinance 1767 establishing map 6 and election sequencing at its August 22, 2017 meeting. Voting by district to commence:

  • District 1 - November 2018
  • District 2 - November 2020
  • District 3 - November 2020
  • District 4 - November 2018

This means that starting in November 2018, individuals that reside in districts 1 and 4 would only be able to vote for one city council seat to represent their district, in contrast to the at-large system that allowed voters to vote for all seats up for election. The mayor, city clerk, and treasurer will continue to be elected at large.
