July is Parks and Recreation Month. All month long, a variety of virtual activities and live events are planned for residents of all ages and abilities — including “Looking for Lucky Scavenger Hunt,” Drive-In Movie Night, and Fontana Arts Appreciation Week.
Alongside the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), Fontana’s Community Services Department is celebrating our parks and recreation programs with the theme We Are Parks and Recreation. You can get your family outdoors with many fun July activities and events. All event information is available at Recreation.Fontana.org.

Get your children onboard Fontana’s Virtual Summer Camp featuring fun, hands-on projects and activities to keep them entertained during the summer. Just a few sessions remain before summer camp ends.
Children ages 5-12 years old participate in activities in arts, science, fitness, theater, and crafts. The virtual camp format provides 3 activities each day utilizing the Google Classroom and Meets forums. For $30 each week we will supply the needed supplies for each activity.
Virtual Camp will run from June 8 through July 31. Participation requires access to the internet. No refunds will be issued after Camp materials are accepted. To register online, visit Summer Camps Online or call (909) 349-6900.
Fontana’s Community Services Department is excited to be hosting the City’s first Free Drive-In Movie at Fontana Park (15556 Summit Ave.) on Friday, July 17. Pack up the family, some snacks and let us do the rest as we feature the animated, cheerful movie “Sing” on a giant inflatable screen with sound piped right into your car via AM radio.
All vehicles MUST preregister at FontanaCA.PerfectMind.com starting Monday, July 13 as spaces are limited. Parking lots will open at 7:00 p.m., movie will begin at dusk. This event will follow social distancing guidelines by the CDC, all participants are required to stay within their vehicle space. Throughout the month of July, Fontana’s famed-mascot Lucky Lion will be your guide and lead community members to interesting sites around town. Lucky Lion will show you where you can take the family for safe and fun recreational use. Every week, we will explore an interesting city site on our social media channels.
Participants are encouraged to share what they are doing to stay active and safe at a local park using the hashtag, #WheresLucky and #WeAreParksAndRec.
Celebrate and explore the world of art during the City’s Virtual Art Appreciation Week from July 27 through 31. This year the art comes to you. We are holding a week-long free Virtual Arts events on the City of Fontana Arts web page, Arts.Fontana.org. Plus, we will be hosting a chalk art challenge where you can submit via social media your best creation for a chance to be featured on the web page!

Does the cabin fever have you searching for a safe opportunity to get the family out if the house? How about join the Fontana Community Services Department on a scavenger hunt throughout the City in search of Lucky the Lion? This free activity will give patrons an opportunity to participate in a fun experience from the safety of their car.
The four-day hunt will run from Thursday, July 23 through Sunday, July 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. participants can download the map that identifies the location of 10 life-size cutouts of Lucky the Lion placed throughout the City. Maps will be available for download on Events.Fontana.org. Follow the map and visit in any order you would like. Each cut out will have a secret letter in the corner, gather all 10 letters to decode the secret word.
Participants who email the secret word to firstname.lastname@example.org will be entered for a chance to win a prize. All participants are encouraged to take photos throughout your scavenger hunt and post on social media using #LookingforLucky.
