The next regularly scheduled election is November 8, 2022, for the offices of Mayor, Council District 1, Council District 4, City Clerk, and City Treasurer. Please note that the office of Mayor, City Clerk and City Treasurer are at-large. 

Council District's 2 and 3 will be vote upon in 2024.

Nomination Period Now Closed

The official nomination period for Fontana City Council is closed. 

Any person wishing to file as a write-in candidate may request nomination papers beginning Monday, September 12 through Tuesday, October 25, 2022. 

Nomination papers must be obtained in person by appointment only at the City of Fontana, City Clerk's Department, located at 8353 Sierra Avenue, Fontana, CA 92335. To schedule an appointment, please call the City Clerk's Department at (909) 350-7602.

Duties of the City Clerk's Department

The Deputy City Clerk is the local election official and coordinates with the County of San Bernardino to conduct municipal elections. Duties of the elections official include preparing necessary resolutions calling for general and special municipal elections, coordinating the candidate nomination process, receipt and process of initiative, referendum, and recall petitions, and declaring election results.
